Envato and Artlist are the two subscriptions video editors argue about most. They look alike — unlimited downloads, music, footage, templates — but they are built the opposite way. Envato sells one big library at one price. Artlist sells smaller, curated libraries in tiers, and you pay more for each one you add.

Envato: the widest library for the price

Envato's library holds 29+ million assets: music (174,000+ tracks, including the PremiumBeat collection), sound effects, stock video, photos, fonts, graphics and video templates for After Effects, Premiere Pro, Final Cut Pro, Apple Motion and DaVinci Resolve. Every plan gets the same library. Plus ($39/mo) and Ultimate (from $168/mo) only add AI credits for generating images, video and voice — Core comes with 20 a month.

Best for: editors who use templates, music and B-roll every week and do client work.

Artlist: curated, and built in tiers

Artlist splits its catalogue into plans. Music & SFX Social covers your own channels, one per platform. Music & SFX Pro ($24.92/mo, yearly only) adds client work, ads and three channels per platform. Footage & Templates ($31.99/mo) brings footage up to 8K in ProRes and DNxHR, plus templates and Rec.709 LUTs; RAW and LOG files cost about $20 a month more. Max (from $39.99/mo) puts everything — music, SFX, footage, templates, plugins and AI credits — on one Pro licence.

Best for: filmmakers who want a consistent, graded look and are happy to pay for it.

Envato's Claim Clear works on tracks marked «Claim Clear ready» and only while you're subscribed.

Both keep finished work safe after you cancel. What you lose is the right to put old downloads into new videos — so don't hoard files for later.

Which one should you pick?

  • You edit for clients, or need templates: Envato Core. Nothing else covers this much for $16.50 a month.
  • Music for your own YouTube channel only: Artlist Music & SFX Social — and it's the only one of the two you can pay month to month.
  • You grade footage and want one cinematic library: Artlist Footage & Templates, or Max if you need music too.

Questions

Is Envato or Artlist cheaper?

For footage, Envato: Core is $16.50/mo billed yearly against $31.99 for Artlist's cheapest footage plan. For music alone, Artlist Social is cheaper at $9.99/mo billed yearly.

Can I pay monthly?

Artlist lets you pay monthly for Music & SFX Social ($14.99) and its AI plans; everything else is yearly. Envato's pricing page lists yearly billing only.

Can I use them for client work?

Envato Core includes client projects and paid ads. On Artlist you need a Pro-licence plan — Music & SFX Pro, a footage plan or Max — because Social covers only your own channels.

What happens to my videos if I cancel?

They stay covered: Envato keeps finished projects licensed, Artlist keeps projects published while you were subscribed. You just can't use the downloads in new videos.

Do they include LUTs?

Artlist includes Rec.709 LUTs in Footage & Templates and Max. Envato has LUTs in its library too. For free film looks, Editor Hub's LUT library lets you try them on your own frame first.
