Website scroll videos for TikTok, Reels and Shorts: settings that read on a phone

October 16, 2026 · 4 min read

Websites do well in short-form video: designers posting their work, founders launching a product, creators reviewing sites or running «rate my website» series. The hard part is the footage. A phone screen recording of a site is jittery, and a desktop recording is the wrong shape. A vertical 9:16 scroll video fixes both — as long as it moves at a pace people can read on a phone.

Set it up for vertical

  1. 1Load the page. Paste a public link into Website Scroll and press Load. The live site appears in the preview, scroll animations included — nothing is rendered yet, so take your time.
  2. 2Switch to 9:16. Pick the vertical format (1080×1920) and 60 fps — the full-screen shape for Shorts, Reels and TikTok.
  3. 3Set the speed. Start slow (see below) and use the Smooth curve, so every move eases in and out instead of jerking.
  4. 4Place the stops. Choose Your own spots, scroll the preview to each section you'll talk about and press Stop on this frame — or drag the markers on the page map. Give each pause 2–3 seconds.
  5. 5Check and download. Keep the hold at the top short so the video moves straight away, scrub the timeline with the playhead, then press Download MP4.

Pick a speed people can read

Speed is set in pixels per second, from 250 to 2000. The clip lasts roughly page length ÷ speed, plus the holds and pauses — and it's cut at the longest clip you allow (5 to 30 seconds), so a long page at a slow speed won't reach the footer.

Plain arithmetic: distance divided by speed, Linear curve, before holds and pauses. At 250 px/s, a 30-second clip covers 7,500 px.

Hook in the first seconds

  • Start moving at once. Keep the top hold short — a still first second looks like a frozen video. If the hero has an entrance animation, hold just long enough for it to finish.
  • Say what it is on the first frame. One line of text over the hero — «Rating your websites, part 12» or «We launched today» — added in your editor.
  • Lead with the best part. If the strongest section sits halfway down, make it your first stop and trim the start with Clip Cutter, which cuts a file right in your browser.
  • Keep it short. Three stops in 15–20 seconds is easier to watch to the end than the full 30.

Website Scroll gives you a clean MP4 with no watermark, so it drops into CapCut, Premiere Pro or the TikTok editor like any other clip. For background music, Music & SFX searches openly licensed tracks and writes the credit line for you — skip anything marked NC if the post is sponsored or the account is monetised. Our guide to free music for videos explains the licences.

Questions

What size is a vertical website video?

1080×1920 pixels, 9:16 — the full-screen format for TikTok, Instagram Reels and YouTube Shorts. Website Scroll exports it as an MP4 at 60 or 30 fps.

How fast should a website scroll on TikTok?

Slower than feels natural on a desktop. Start at the low end of the 250–2000 px per second range, add stops on the sections you talk about, and watch it on a phone before you post.

Can I show an app or a dashboard that needs a login?

Not with Website Scroll — it only opens public pages. Record anything behind a login with a screen recorder and crop it to 9:16 in your editor. Our comparison of the options covers which recorder to use.

Is there a watermark?

No. Website Scroll is free, with no watermark and no sign-up.

Where do I add music and captions?

In your editor, or in the app you post from. Website Scroll makes the footage; Music & SFX has free tracks to put under it.
