Text Message Animator

Type a conversation and get it as an animated overlay for your video: iMessage, WhatsApp, Discord and 16 more styles, on a transparent background. It all happens in your browser, which is also where the conversation stays.

0:00.0

Premiere Pro, After Effects or Resolve: take the PNG sequence, it keeps real transparency. Final Cut Pro or CapCut: switch the background to green screen and use the keyer. The WebM is one small file for browsers and anything else that reads alpha. Voice messages and video sound come along: inside the WebM, and as audio.wav in the PNG sequence zip.

Animated text messages for your video, on a transparent background

Text Message Animator turns a typed conversation into an animated chat overlay — the bubbles, the typing dots and the little pop each message makes when it lands. Pick one of 19 styles, from iMessage and WhatsApp to Discord, ChatGPT and a lock screen full of notifications, set the frame and the pace, and watch it play before you export anything.

Download it as a WebM with alpha, a PNG sequence or a single frame and drop it over your footage in Premiere Pro, DaVinci Resolve, Final Cut Pro or CapCut. It is built for text-story videos, sketches, explainers and tutorials. Everything happens in your browser: free, no watermark, and the conversation never leaves your computer.

Frequently asked questions

Is it free, and is there a watermark?

Free, no watermark, no sign-up. The conversation is drawn and recorded in your browser, so there is nothing for us to charge for and, frankly, nothing for us to see.

Which export should I use in Premiere Pro, Resolve or Final Cut?

The PNG sequence. It is a .zip of transparent 30 fps frames that Premiere Pro, After Effects and DaVinci Resolve import as one clip with real transparency. Final Cut Pro and CapCut: export on the green-screen background and key it out. The WebM with alpha is one small file for browsers and editors that read VP9 alpha; a black background means yours does not.

Which chat styles are there?

Nineteen, each in light and dark: iMessage, iPhone SMS, WhatsApp, Telegram, Viber, Messenger, Instagram, Tinder, Snapchat, X, Signal, Android SMS, Discord, Slack, Teams, LinkedIn, ChatGPT, iOS notifications and Terminal.

Can I add photos, videos and voice messages?

Yes. Add a photo (a transparent PNG stays transparent, like a sticker), a video, a round video message like in Telegram, or a voice message with your own sound file or a made-up waveform. Tap the circle next to a name to give that person a profile photo. Voice messages and video sound come along in the export: inside the WebM, and as audio.wav in the PNG sequence zip.

Is my conversation uploaded anywhere?

No. The text, the animation and the export all stay on your device. Close the tab and the only copy of your fictional drama is the file you downloaded.

Why does the WebM take as long as the clip?

The browser records the animation in real time, so a 12-second conversation takes about 12 seconds to export. Keep the tab in front while it records — browsers slow down tabs nobody is looking at.

Can I make a vertical video for TikTok, Reels or Shorts?

Yes. Pick the 9:16 frame (1080×1920) and the bottom position, and the chat stacks up from the bottom like a phone screen. 1:1 and 16:9 are there too.
